Do this before the next storm
Photograph your roof from the street, all four sides, on a clear day. Date them. Ten minutes now is worth more than an hour of explaining later, because a before-photo is evidence and a description is not.
What to look for afterwards
From the ground: missing or lifted shingles, a dented or displaced ridge line, debris on the roof, and granules washed into the gutters or at the bottom of downspouts. Inside: water staining on ceilings, and daylight visible in the attic.
Do not climb up. Wet or damaged roofs are how people get hurt after storms.
Be careful who knocks
Storms bring crews who were not in your area the week before and will not be there the week after. Ask how long they have worked locally, ask for a licence number, and never sign anything on a doorstep on the day.
