How a Roof Insurance Claim Works

Your policy explains this in nine pages. Here is the sequence in four steps, with no promises attached.

The actual order

You report it. The claim starts with you, not with a contractor.

They send an adjuster. The insurer assigns somebody to look at the property.

The adjuster inspects. They assess what they see and write it up.

They decide. The insurer determines what is covered under your policy.

What a contractor can do alongside that

A contractor can inspect the roof, document condition with photographs, and explain what they found in terms you can repeat. That is a different job from the claim itself.

Sunny Sky Solar does not file or adjust insurance claims. We document what we find on your roof and explain it plainly. Your claim is between you and your insurer.

Why your own record is worth keeping

Whatever the outcome, having dated photographs and a written description of your roof’s condition is useful. It is useful for the claim, useful for a future sale, and useful the next time a storm comes through.

A caution

Be wary of anyone who guarantees a claim outcome, offers to cover your deductible, or asks you to sign over your claim rights on the doorstep. Those are not normal practices.

Should I get an inspection before I report?

Knowing what is actually on your roof before you make a call is generally helpful. What you do with that information is your decision.

What if the claim is denied?

That is between you and your insurer, and your policy sets out the options. We can tell you what we found on the roof; we cannot influence the decision.
